The CD printer is the key to professional-looking CD duplication. Without a superb quality CD printer, the end result will appear shabby. It is vital for us that we have the best CD printer available to the CD duplication market. We use the Rimage Everest II automatic CD printer, which currently offers the highest quality CD print possible. The only drawback for us is that these printers cost about the same as a new car and they only print one disc at a time (not the sort of thing you can buy at The Printer Store!. However, we find that customers are so pleased with the end result that it is well worth the wait.Click here for Frequently Asked Questions about CD and DVD Printers.
Our CD printer is also our DVD printer. As DVD discs are exactly the same size and shape as CD discs, the DVD printing can be performed using the same machine. This means that we can offer the same quality DVD print to our DVD duplication customers as well as to our CD duplication customers.
The CD printing process we use is known as digital, thermal retransfer. It offers a higher quality of CD and DVD printing compared to standard thermal printing and a much more robust (waterproof, scratch-resistant, UV-protected) standard of CD printing than inkjet printing.
Frequently Asked Questions about CD and DVD Printers
How does the print stick to the CD or DVD disc?
The CD-R and DVD-R discs that are used in the duplication process have a special coating on their label side. This means that when the CD or DVD printer prints, the disc surface absorbs the ink or toner that the CD or DVD printer uses. This means that there is no need for nasty sticky labels to be applied to the disc surface.
Can I have part of the CD or DVD left to be silver in colour?
This is something that is really only done in CD replication or DVD replication. Whilst it is possible to have part of the disc silver (like a mirror), the time and costs involved would make it uneconomical. It is, however, possible to have a frosted silver background. These discs are slightly more expensive than those with a plain white background, but it could give you the look you require.
How many colours can the CD printer, or DVD printer, print in?
Most duplication printers have 4 or 5 colours available. These are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. The fifth colour is white. Any other colour can be made by mixing these colours together, just like your home computer printer. Our printer can print in 4 or 5 colours (depending on what ribbons we put in). Usually it is not necessary to have the fifth colour (white) as we can purchase discs with a white background.
